Production of Activated Carbon from Carbonaceous Agricultural Waste Material: Coconut Fibres
نویسندگان
چکیده
Activated carbon was produced from Cocos nucifera (coconut) fibers by carbonization and activation processes. The sample first pretreated before processes at 450°C 700°C respectively in an electric furnace. Chemical using Potassium hydroxide (KOH) 4:1 (weight basis) carried out to increase the activated adsorption properties. element contained analyzed Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) while surface morphological composition determined Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) chemical bonds present characterized Fourier transform infrared reflection (FT-IR). From research out, results show that coconut would be useful effective for adsorbent purposes, considering its large pores.

Life Cycle Assessment of activated carbon production from coconut shells
Activated carbons have excellent performance in a number of process applications. In particular, they appear to have the most favourable characteristics for adsorption processes, thanks to their high porosity and large surface area. However, a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impacts of their manufacturing chain is still lacking. This study evaluates these impacts taking the specif...
